Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do we ride the horses?

The horse is our teacher. We must be able to communicate with our horse and read their body language. We work as a team on the ground, at eye level, with our teachers. We do not ride, as we want the horse in their most natural mindset possible.

2. What if I do not have any horse experience?

No worries at all! We will teach you the ins and outs of how your horse will communicate with you and how to safely work with our horse teachers. No horse experience necessary!

3. What if I'm afraid of horses?

Not to worry - if you aren't being pushed out of your comfort zone, you aren't learning. Our program gives you the opportunity to face your fears or preconceived notions, all within a safe learning environment.
4. What if I'm allergic to horses?
Knowing is half the battle! Taking an allergy pill before coming out will help immensely. Our Sales And Marketing Director at our parent school (Equine Connection) is allergic to horses and says that allergy pills help.
5. Is the program weather dependent? What if it's raining, snowing, cold, hot?

We have an indoor arena that keeps us comfortable on the cold of winter and out of the sun on hot summer afternoons. This ensures that we can run programs all year long - rain or shine! However, on days that are too stormy (snow, ice, high winds, severe thunderstorms, etc.), we do reschedule our programs for safety concerns.
6. Do I need to wear certain clothing?

With safety in mind, closed-toed shoes are required (i.e. running shoes, boots). It's also a good idea to wear something that you don't mind getting a bit dusty. Dressing for the weather is important too. Although we are indoors, there is no traditional heating.

7. What are the age requirements for your programs?

Due to the nature of our life skills program, participants must be 8+ years of age. Our Meet & Greet Horse Experience is an all-ages experience, but is not life skills development.

8. What group size can you accommodate?

Our programs run on a 1-6 participant basis. However, we are able to make special arrangements for groups of up to 12.
9. Are you insured?

Yes, we have extensive business and property insurance.

10. Are you certified?

Absolutely! Michelle Mulholland, our Certified Equine Facilitator, was certified through the internationally recognized organization, Equine Connection - The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning, Inc. Equine Connection runs a 5-day hands-on certification course with additional online courses and an amazing post-certification support system. We are governed by the EAL Network, which requires Michelle to keep active with professional development to ensure Gully's Learning Ranch remains within the network.

11. What if I have a limited budget?
