Our Teen Equine Assisted Learning Program is designed for older youth (12-17 years of age) to help develop essential life skills for their futures. Our teen program is a modified Equine Assisted Learning program which includes changes in verbiage, parallels to real life, and activities. This experiential learning program is designed to develop effective communication, creative problem solving, boundaries, self-confidence, goal setting, and so much more! This fun, interactive learning experience will offer unforgettable personal growth for teens. Each session is objectively-driven and can be scheduled as a Single Workshop, Double Workshop, or 4-, 6-, 8-, or 12-Week Curriculum Programs. Each session is 60-75-minutes in length and are run with 1-4 participants

Why Does it Work?

Working with horses is both interactive and stimulating - a recipe for important learning retention. Because horses are prey animals by nature, they understand how to differentiate between potentially threatening or aggressive behaviour and a calm, assertive approach. Working through our program allows teens to learn how to modify their behaviour, as necessary, through sets of exercises that will be retained and used for the rest of their lives. This unique teaching method cannot be taught in the classroom - it is the close-contact interaction with horses that has the strongest impact on young people - especially teenagers

What is great about an interactive experiential learning program versus a traditional classroom setting? We all have different learning styles, however, we can all learn from our own experiences. Teams working together to build interpersonal relationships with each other and their horse - and ultimately to their own personal individual development.

Each exercise is designed to encourage the overcoming of personal barriers in order to find change within themselves and to build relationships that are based off of mutual trust, respect, and integrity - all while having fun

Our Teachers Deliver Results! â€‹

Our teachers deliver irrefutable results

1. Physical Wellbeing:

  • Physical Status: The youth feels better about themselves physical after engaging in Equine Assisted Learning, leading to  participating in other physical activities - with an end result of improved physical health

  • Safe Physical Touch: Participants learn the importance of physical touch with their horse. This leads to better understanding of safe or healthy touch (especially while grooming).

2. Mental Wellbeing: Includes improved;

  • Moods, feelings, and emotions

  • Cognition, intellect, Perceptions and thoughts,

  • Judgement and identity through perceptions of self

3. Social Wellbeing:

  • Focusing on interpersonal dynamics of the individual's relationships or associations with family, friends, the community, and the universe!

  • All programs are designed to enhance effective communication through better understanding of space, body language, and dialogue.

  • Increased awareness of self, of others, and of their own learning creates a positive change in behaviour - through the use of the horse's boundaries (which are very distinct and defined, which means feedback for crossing those boundaries is immediate and authentic).
